The world of superfoods can be confusing. Health experts and dieticians from all corners of the industry weigh-in with recommendations about what we should, and shouldn’t be eating. It’s no wonder we never implement their suggestions into our diet.

#1 Isn’t hemp a drug? The short answer is no, but it’s a little more complicated. Hemp is harvested from an industrial variety of the cannabis sativa plant which contains less than 0.3 percent of THC, a compound in marijuana that gets you high.


#2 Why should I eat hemp? Nutrients found in hemp have multiple health benefits. Hemp can aid in digestion, improve cardiovascular function and help with skin issues, to name a few.


#3 In what form can I buy hemp? Hemp is manufactured into a variety of forms from shelled-hemp, hulled-hemp and hemp hearts to powders, flours and oils. Regardless of form, hemp has an incredible nutritional breakdown which includes 9.47 grams of protein in one tablespoon!

#4 How am I supposed to eat hemp? From salads, sandwiches and smoothies, hemp’s versatility means you can eat it practically any way you want!


#5 What are the side-effects associated with eating hemp? Before ingesting hemp, you should be aware of any side effects. It’s important to begin your intake slowly to avoid uncomfortable digestive issues like diarrhea.
